Privacy Policy

Last updated: May 20, 2026

This policy explains what information TrailCache collects when you visit the site, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data. Plain English, no lawyer-speak.

What we collect

When you visit trailcache.com, standard web traffic data is automatically logged by our hosting provider (SiteGround): your IP address and approximate location, browser type and version, pages you visit and time spent, and the referring site or search term. We use this to understand which reviews land and to keep the site fast.

Affiliate link cookies

When you click an affiliate link on this site (e.g. “View on Amazon”), the destination retailer sets a cookie in your browser identifying TrailCache as the referrer for roughly 24 hours. That cookie is set by Amazon (or the relevant retailer), not by us — we don’t see it or store it. It exists so commission attribution works.

Email

If you sign up for the TrailCache newsletter, we store your email address solely to send new reviews. We don’t sell, rent, or share email lists. One-click unsubscribe in every newsletter.

(Newsletter signups are not yet active. When they launch, this section will be updated with the specific email service provider in use.)

Comments

If commenting is open on a post, we collect the name, email, and comment text you submit. Email is never displayed publicly. Comment data lives in our WordPress database.

Third-party services

Currently this site uses:

  • Amazon Associates for affiliate links (Amazon’s cookies — see Amazon’s privacy notice)
  • SiteGround for hosting (standard server logs)

We don’t currently run Google Analytics, ad networks, retargeting pixels, or social-media trackers. If analytics are added in the future, this section will be updated before deployment.

Your rights

  • Access: Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
  • Deletion: Request that we delete it.
  • Newsletter: Unsubscribe anytime.

If you’re in California (CCPA) or the EU/UK (GDPR), you have additional rights under those laws. Email contact@trailcache.com to exercise them.

Children’s privacy

TrailCache is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
